Christina Aguilera is the embodiment of fashion evolution. From a sweet innocent Mouseketeer to a dirty bleached blonde wearing chaps to an old Hollywood girl, this pop diva has rocked some fabulous and not-so-fabulous looks over the years. Let’s have a look at the nays, focusing on the shoes she’s picked to wear with her outfits.

During the 2011 Superbowl, Miss Aguilera donned a Dolce & Gabbana tailored skirt suit with silver-tipped red Calypso Louboutins. Problem is, those shoes are best reserved for the club, not in an event where the whole of America is paying attention to you. The outfit is appropriate and spot-on, as it paints her as a woman with class. However, a better choice for the shoes would have been a pair of Casadei women’s triple platform peep-toe pumps from Endless. They pop without taking the focus of attention off her curvaceous figure and oh-so-powerful voice.

Bad shoe choice number two would have to be the ridiculous tan brown pumps she wore at the “Burlesque” premiere in Germany. I mean, why spoil a gorgeous and luscious Alberta Ferretti pink gown with bland shoes? A better option would have been a pair of cool and heavenly Michael Kors York platform pumps. These not only have timeless chic written all over them, but they can also be dressed in many different ways with a dozen other outfits, and they would be the piece that ultimately saves the day.

One look in which I would have recommended that she keep the shoes and work on her outfit would be when she wore a red lace Dolce & Gabbana dress with black tights and a skinny waist belt. The shoes were a pair of killer patent shiny black pumps. There is such a thing as over-accessorizing in fashion. In this look, she would have done better to ditch the dress for a minimalist Elie Saab gown paired with a Cartier bracelet and a clean makeup palette, while at the same time losing the tights and belt.

So there you have it – the fashion gaffes that make this platinum selling artist as human as every one of us. These fashion don’ts just go to show that sometimes, money can’t buy style. All in all, Christina’s old Hollywood glamour style is one to keep an eye on – I love her modern take on this and am waiting to see what she comes up with next.
